Truth be told Jimmy not I don't know if half of these cats can go back that far but I tell you I enojoyed every minute of it!! What left me curious is whether Cheese had skills with both bands or just the left aws illustrated. Back in the day when I did my thing I did the same I never tried both hands I was more comfortable with the mixer on the right!!!Thank You for this treat I always liked the sharpness of Cheese's cuts!!

I remember recording it off the radio in '86 and the other djs (who lost) saying something like this kind of thing wasn't mixing and there wasn't much future for the competition if things carried on like this...
he came to the limit club in Sheffield not long after becoming a worldwide phenomenon, one of the best afternoons of my life.
unbelievably good post jim, cheers.

as for the one hand, does it make it easier to mix with the decks the way he has it? i'd have thought it would be harder this way, its not about which hand he uses its what he does with it.

what can i say, that is off the hook.. i was there that night at 15 years of age and cheese was my inspiration for getting a setup of my own. The guy is a legend in my book and always will be! Thanks for sharing the vid it's made my day!

Deezal it is much easier With your best hand on the cut, however in competition you show more talent if you can use both!! So check out Jazzy Jeff with the cold crush scratch It's Jazzyyyyyy!!LOL!! Back in 86 in Philly Cheese was no more than an an average scratcher in comparison to most of our cut masters that we boast!! I like Cheese for his precision scratching, his scratches were so nice that they were far greater than many who attempted it on a national or international level!! Dj Cheese was okay!!LOL

the first time I saw a DJ actually scratch a record on turntables was Dj Cheese, at Maxson Junior HS 1981 in Plainfield NJ. The only other place in the world you could hear anthing like this was in the Bronx,Ny. Grand Master Flash had a single out that featured scratching called The Adventures of Grand Master Flash on the Wheels of Steel. This was just 2 yrs after Rapper's Delight.
