Top TED Talks for Lawyers
Posted September 9, 2011 by anna

The folks over at onlinecolleges.net have put together a great list of the top 20 TED Talks that every law student, and current lawyer, should watch. TED is a nonprofit organization that brings together people from the worlds of technology, entertainment and design (hence, TED), to offer their ideas for free to the public, with the mission of giving everyone a deeper understanding of the world. The list compiled by onlinecolleges.com picked talks that mostly cover politics and law, but some of the talks are also about general life lessons that anyone can benefit from. Some highlights on the list include Alan Siegel’s lecture on why Legal writing should be simplified so it can be readable by ordinary people, and, for the younger generation, J K Rowling’s talk on the ways in which failure can be just as valuable as success. Michael Sandel’s “Justice” course on the list is also very interesting, and is part of a whole series of lectures that he gives at Harvard, but which are also available on line, which tackle disparate ethical dilemmas (for example, whether cannibalism is ever OK).
