DOJ installs computer system to track work of city fiscals - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos
The Department of Justice has put up a computer-based system to track cases filed with the Cebu City Prosecutors Office. Prosecutors who fail to dispose of cases within a 60-day period will not receive their 13k Pesos monthly allowance from the DOJ. Their monthly salaries range from 25K Pesos to 50k Pesos, plus a DOJ allowance of 13K Pesos and a Cebu city government allowance of 5k Pesos. The new DOJ system is at its experimental stage. There is silent opposition from Cebu prosecutors, who use the lawyers' associations to mobilize the local media in their behalf. To my mind, let the pilot project proceed. Let's see the final statistics later and make a final decision in due time. Delay is a perennial problem of our justice system. The challenge is global in scope. Click the link above.
